The Story Behind PayForPray
My grandmother’s prayers brought me comfort during difficult times. They inspired PayForPray: a place for your intention and a personal gesture of care. You are welcome, whatever you believe.
There are moments when words are hard to find. We worry about someone we love, face a change, or simply need something to hold on to. During the hardest times in my life, my grandmother’s prayers brought me comfort. They reminded me that someone was thinking of me. I was not alone.
That experience inspired PayForPray. I wanted to create a place where people could share what was on their hearts — a worry, a wish, gratitude, or the memory of someone they miss. A place for a small, personal act of care: a prayer, or a light lit for someone who matters.
Perhaps you are here for yourself. Perhaps you are here for someone you cannot be close to right now. You do not need perfect words or a particular religious belief. Simply share what is on your heart. That is the idea behind PayForPray: to make room for your intention — and the hope you bring with it. I am Anastasia, the founder of PayForPray. I created this space for what is on your heart, receive your orders and take care of the organisation. At Sewla Monastery in Bhutan, the monks perform the prayers and light the oil lamps.
